New Core Standards for Adult Protection Case Conferences
- 1 December 2025
- Natalie Spencer
A new set of Core Standards for Adult Support and Protection (ASP) Case Conferences will go live across Grampian on 1st December 2025. These standards have been developed by a multi-agency working group and endorsed by all three Grampian Adult Protection Committees, NHS Grampian, Police Scotland, and advocacy partners.
✅ What Are the Standards?
The standards outline best practice for how ASP Case Conferences should be:
– Planned and chaired
– Attended by professionals
– Supported with timely information
– Inclusive of the adult’s voice and advocacy
– Delivered consistently across agencies
They also set expectations for NHS Grampian, Police Scotland, Primary Care, and Social Work involvement.
💡 Why Are They Being Introduced?
Case Conferences are a key part of protecting adults at risk of harm. These standards aim to:
– Improve consistency and quality
– Strengthen multi-agency collaboration
– Ensure adults are supported to participate meaningfully
– Align with national guidance and lived experience feedback
🏥 What Does This Mean for You?
– Social Work will continue to lead and chair conferences.
– NHS Grampian staff are expected to prioritise attendance and contribute relevant health information.
– GPs and Primary Care will be invited and supported to share key data.
– Police Scotland will attend where criminality is involved and otherwise provide intelligence.
– Advocacy services will be offered early and revisited throughout the process.
